Scrapers are pieces of steel that don't cut the fibres but abrade them in a controlled manner.


In general, sharpening the card scraper consists of grinding down the protruding burr, re-flattening the edge face and then burnishing a new burr. There are lots of ways to achieve this and many people have different opinions on the best way. As with most sharpening, it's about finding a way that works for oneself and using that.
